When naming the people in photos, it might be good to include maiden names…Ellen (Stefanik) Wheeler and formal given names along with nicknames … Moulton “Bud” Wheeler. Or is that too complicated?
This photo was taken on July 4, 1950 at a Stefanik family picnic. The family often gathered for picnics at Milan and Marge Stefanik’s home in Kirtland Hills. Kirtland Hills is east of Cleveland in an area that looks a lot like New England. The property had once been a small farm and had a big red barn filled with hay. (The house and barn are still there to this day (April 2019). Warren and I would play in the hay with our cousins Dave and Steve Stefanik and jump into the haystack from high in the rafters. We also waded and swam in the Chagrin river which bordered the property. In the photo above I am wearing a daisy chain crown made from flowers gathered from the field where we had our picnics and played softball.
